Rural Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Development Programme (REEDP)
Updated: Apr 21

The Rural Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Development Programme (REEDP) is an innovative approach at Dakshakriti ThinkLab, fostering economic growth, social welfare, and environmental sustainability in rural areas. REEDP is a targeted intervention that aims to create an enabling environment for rural entrepreneurship and small business development. The programme seeks to empower rural communities by providing them with the necessary skills, resources, and support to create and sustain their businesses. The main objective of REEDP is to promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth in rural areas, which aligns with the principles of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
REEDP Incubation is implemented through Rural Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Development (REED) Course. You can read more about the course and process to apply here.
About the Programme
The importance of rural development cannot be overstated, as it significantly impacts national and global economic growth, poverty reduction, and environmental sustainability. Therefore, investing in rural development can significantly reduce poverty and improve rural communities’ living standards. Entrepreneurship is a critical driver of economic growth and job creation. However, entrepreneurship in rural areas faces significant challenges due to limited access to finance, infrastructure, and technology. To address this, a Rural Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Development Programme (REEDP) will be implemented using the “Enable-Enhance-Engage-Empower” ™ (4E) framework. This programme aims to support and empower rural entrepreneurs by providing them with the necessary resources and support systems to establish and grow their businesses. REEDP using the 4E framework, is a comprehensive approach to supporting and empowering rural entrepreneurs. The programme aligns with ESG and SDGs by promoting sustainable entrepreneurship in rural areas, which can contribute to economic growth, poverty reduction, and environmental sustainability. The Dakshakriti ThinkLab will act as a hub for innovation and entrepreneurship in rural areas, providing rural entrepreneurs with the necessary resources and support systems to establish and grow successful businesses.

Programme Components
The Rural Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Development Programme will be implemented through The Dakshakriti ThinkLab, which will act as a hub for innovation and entrepreneurship in rural areas. The programme will consist of four components, which correspond to the four elements of the 4E framework: Enable: The programme's first component is to enable rural entrepreneurs to establish and grow their businesses. This will be achieved by providing resources such as business development services, access to finance, and infrastructure support. The Dakshakriti ThinkLab will provide a platform for entrepreneurs to connect with mentors, investors, and other stakeholders.
Enhance: The second component of the programme is to enhance the skills and capabilities of rural entrepreneurs. This will be achieved through training programmes, workshops, and capacity-building initiatives. The Dakshakriti ThinkLab will offer a range of training programmes on topics such as business management, marketing, and financial literacy.
Engage: The third component of the programme is to engage with stakeholders in the rural entrepreneurship ecosystem. This will be achieved by establishing partnerships with government agencies, non-profit organizations, and other stakeholders. The Dakshakriti ThinkLab will serve as a platform for stakeholders to collaborate and share resources.
Empower: The fourth component of the programme is to empower rural entrepreneurs to become agents of change in their communities. Thus, empowering rural entrepreneurs to lead in their communities and drive sustainable development. The empowerment component includes community development, advocacy, leadership training, mentorship, networking opportunities, and market access. The Dakshakriti ThinkLab will provide a platform for entrepreneurs to showcase their products and services and connect with potential customers.
